This e-Journal is a monthly, green building e-Journal that is currently sent to professionals, government and municipalities, sector relevant associations and NGO’s, research institutions and relevant stakeholders within South Africa and Africa. The e-Journal focuses on current trends, news and information regarding green building both locally and internationally.
Green Building Conference
The annual Green Building Conference and Exhibition returns for its fifth year, offering delegates presentations from the world’s leading Green Building speakers, an extensive exhibition of green building products and services, and innovative design charrettes. The charrettes are practical group discussion sessions that are centred on the notion of collaborative design and are an opportunity to apply theory to a practical example.
The Green Building Conference and Exhibition is held in association with South Africa’s industry professional institutes and attracted the leading decision making members of key organisations who are committed to learning about and embracing green building techniques. The wide variety of products on the exhibition floor make the event an ideal place to expose new green products to the industry.
Media exposure of the Green Building Conference and Exhibition has grown over the years with last year's preliminary event guide being distributed to 70 000 Engineering News readers.
Delegates were provided with four types of content that take into account the changing green building requirements of design and construction professionals in South Africa:
• Inspirational International presentations from star architects and designers
• Locally relevant plenary content from South Africa's thought leaders
• Even more emphasis on practical, locally applicable, case study-based break away sessions
• Current and new products, technologies and services available in South Africa

Green Building Handbook
Edited by Llewellyn van Wyk and packed with contributions from South Africa’s leading industry experts and researchers, The Green Building Handbook provides readers with practical insights into green building designs, technologies, materials and solutions relevant in the South African context and the effect each has on the environmental impact of buildings. Volumes One and Two of the Handbook are available online here.
The Handbook now also boasts many new and valuable features for readers and advertisers such as a Peer-Review board and online CPD or Certificate linked Learning Modules for professional readers. These new features will expand on the already successful footprint of the Handbook in South Africa, both in terms of quality and quantity.
These new developments will increase copy-sales of the Handbook to professionals and to those industry managers wishing to study the Certificate courses in Eco-Building. More than 16 000 copies of the Handbook are already in circulation and advertisers are enjoying the benefits of exposure to both hard-copy readers and online learners.
The Handbook will continue to increase value for those companies who advertise or profile their products and services to this audience. In addition to built environment professionals, the Handbook is distributed to key stakeholders such as property owners, architectural professionals and educators, engineers, government and facilities managers, contractors, consultants, home owners and others and is the only guide of its kind in South Africa.
The Green Building handbook is now an even better way for advertisers to reach the most meaningful construction industry specifiers and decision-makers in South Africa.
