Call for Speakers opportunities
Event Date: 13 - 14 July 2011
Venue: Sandton International Convention Centre
Location: Sandton
The fifth annual Green Building Conference and Exhibition offers delegates presentations from the world’s leading Green Building speakers, an extensive exhibition of green building products and services.
The editorial objective of the SA Green Building Conference is to advance the uptake of green building and the market for green building in SA, and as such presentations should provide delegates with examples of successful green building projects/initiatives, detailing in a practical way the challenges and achievements in each case.
The Green Building Conference and Exhibition will be held in association with South Africa’s industry professional institutes and attracted the leading decision making members of key organisations who are committed to learning about and embracing green building techniques. The wide variety of products on the exhibition floor make the event an ideal place to expose new green products to the industry.
Delegates were provided with four types of content that take into account the changing green building requirements of design and construction professionals in South Africa:
• Inspirational International presentations from star architects and designers
• Locally relevant plenary content from South Africa's thought leaders
• Even more emphasis on practical, locally applicable, case study-based break away sessions
• Current and new products, technologies and services available in South Africa

Call for Authors/Contributors
We are looking for submissions to the Green Building Handbook and to the South African eJournal of Green Building. Read more about the eJournal here.
The Handbook now also boasts many new and valuable features for readers and advertisers such as a Peer-Review board and online CPD or Certificate linked Learning Modules for professional readers. These new features will expand on the already successful footprint of the Handbook in South Africa, both in terms of quality and quantity.
The Green Building Handbook serves as the prescribed text book for the newly launched Eco-Building Online Learning Modules which form part of the CPD, Certificate and Diploma (coming soon) Courses offered by alive2green. The chapters from the Green Building Handbook Volume 3 will be adapted into Learning Modules which will make up a certificate course and then a diploma.
What is the Green Building Handbook about?
The Green Building Handbook provides readers with practical insights into green building designs, technologies, materials and solutions relevant in the South African context and the effect each has on the environmental impact of buildings.
What is the Green Building Handbook trying to achieve?
The media plays a critical role in advancing sustainability and facilitating a move away from unsustainable practices by exposing what is bad and proving people with facts, information and knowledge about what is good. The Green Building Handbook strives to achieve this knowledge transfer in the green building sector by providing an academic publication with contributions from industry experts and thought leaders.
