ASAQS
Vision
To be an appropriate regulatory body for a dynamic, successful and ever-evolving quantity surveying profession that are leaders in the development of the built environment.
Mission
To guide, facilitate and promote a high standard of competency and responsibility in the quantity surveying profession and to increase public awareness of the range of services offered. To ensure the profession fulfils its total role in the development of South Africa.
CAA
CAA's constitution sets the aim of the organisation as 'The advancement of Architecture throughout the Commonwealth, and the acquisition of knowledge of the various arts and sciences connected therewith'. In particular; promoting co-operation between members and other equivalent organisations; ensuring the maximum contribution of architects to the well being of society; and encouraging activities on a regional basis.
Council for the Built Environment
The CBE Act was introduced in order to address certain shortcomings in the built environment and to enable a climate for ongoing transformation and development of the professions to take place. In terms of the CBE Act the Council is, amongst others, responsible for transforming the professions, acting as a conduit between Government and the built environment professions, fostering growth of the professions, and contributing to the creation of a dynamic built environment.
Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body established in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 46 of 2000). ECSA's predecessor was established by the Engineering Profession of South Africa Act, 1990 (Act 114 of l990).
ECSA sees itself in partnership with the State and the engineering profession to promote a high level of education and training of practitioners in the engineering profession so as to facilitate full recognition of professionalism in the engineering profession, both locally and abroad. It enjoys full autonomy although it is accountable to the State, the profession and the public for the fair and transparent administration of its business in the pursuit of its goals.
LIA
The LIA is a self-regulating organization which is solely dependant on the interaction and efficiency of each and every member, but, most of all, on the involvement of our management committee.
The Pretoria Institute for Architecture (PIA)
The Pretoria Institute for Architecture (PIA) is a Voluntary Association recognised by the South African Council for the Architectural Profession, and is a ‘Regional Institute’ of the South African Institute of Architects.
The PIA has origins in the Pretoria Architectural Society which was founded in 1945. The PIA was created to serve the interests of architects in the Pretoria area and to further good Architecture, and to care for the Architectural heritage unique to Pretoria.
The Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP)
The Council for the Architectural Profession was established by the Architectural Profession Act 2000, Act No 44 of 2000. The Act specifies the method of appointment of Council members; which organisations are to be represented generally and specifically; and the functions and objects of the Council
The Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency (SAEE)
The Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency (SAEE) is one of 67 international chapters of the American Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
As a chapter of the AEE, the SAEE is committed to increase energy efficiency, utilize innovative energy service options, enhance environmental management programs, upgrade facility operations, and improve equipment performance -- while at the same time bolstering the bottom lines of organizations.
The South African Institute of Architects and the Regional Institutes (SAIA)
The South African Institute of Architects and the Regional Institutes are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and competence.
Members who voluntarily enrol with the Institute are required to uphold and subscribe to these objectives, and within the built environment, strive to improve the standards of health and safety for the protection and welfare of all members of society and to enhance with their professional skills, the natural environment to the benefit of all.
Members of the Institute, registered as professional architects, are educated and trained to provide leadership, critical judgement, specialist knowledge, skills and aptitude, for the design and development of the built environment.
The Cape Institute for Architecture
The Cape Institute for Architecture is affiliated to the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) and is one of eleven regional institutes. The Institute is constituted according to the Architects Act 44 of 2000. All member categories are required to be registered with the statutory body, the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
Sustainable Energy Society of South Africa
Established in 1974 and one of 50 National Sections of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), the Sustainable Energy Society of Southern Africa (SESSA) is the pre-eminent platform dedicated to the use of renewable energy. SESSA pro-actively advocates all forms of renewable energy as well as energy efficiency, including all solar-based energies such as photovoltaics, thermal heating and cooling, wind, biomass as well as hydro.
As the duly appointed African office of the ISES, the inter-disciplinary nature of SESSA attracts a broad membership profile from industry, scientists, researchers, developers and the general public – the only qualification is a grand vision supporting renewable energy and its utilisation to ensure a sustainable energy future.
Our Mission:
The creation and continued growth of an authoritative renewable energy forum in Southern Africa.
Objectives:
• to promote and increase the use of renewable energy with informal education, demonstration and information dissemination to end-users and other decision makers of all levels;
• to establish the society as the main regional information centre in close co-operation with similar initiatives;
• to facilitate in the creation and maintenance of appropriate standards for products , s y s tems or methods and training.
