Greenbuilding.co.za gets Fresh New Look
Tuesday, 23 February 2010 |   |  0 comment

Alive2green South Africa is pleased to announce the launch of its redesigned website at www.greenbuilding.co.za. The new website includes added value for members, as well as providing easier access to information to up-and-coming conferences, publications, quick access to new offers and easier overall navigation.

Alive2green is also in the process of creating a shared-information strategy to the website, to bring ‘green’ beginners and experts into one portal, through sharing of information, technology and advice. A few of these concepts have already been added through online content submission forms and a comments and reviews component to certain sections and articles.

The new website is the product of the inspirational goal and vision by Alive2green Director, Lloyd Macfarlane, who explained at this year’s Green Building Conference.

“We have numerous ideas and concepts on how to bring a ‘green’ community together” said Lloyd, “The website launch is just the first step towards an idealism of a community coming together to share ‘green’ insights and sustainable solutions.”

Users who were registered with the old site will still be able to access the new site and access past South African eJournals of Green Building, as well as past presentations from events hosted by alive2green. Registration to the website is free and available to everyone.

The new site has also been launched in anticipation of the up-and-coming Green Building Conference, 2010, which will be held at Gallagher Estate, Midrand, Johannesburg, on the 29-30 April. Delegates will be able to book online, through either EFT/Deposit or with credit card, as well as download the latest information brochure, floor plan, maps and other information. This year’s 2009 conference, held in July attracted over 700 industry professionals and 80 exhibitors. 2010 will be the fourth annual Green Building Conference and Exhibition.

Another facility on the website is the online booking for the Green Building Handbook, Volume 2. After the publication of Volume 1 earlier this year which sold over 4 000 copies, Volume 2 aims to be jam-packed with relevant chapters focusing on the key elements of ‘green’ building, local and international case studies and government policies, written by leading experts in sustainability.

With the new concept of professionals in the industry getting involved, alive2green has created the new site to allow for users to post comments, suggestions and ideas going forward and promotes participation and interaction from its members.

“Greenbuilding.co.za isn’t only the front for our company,” says Lloyd, “but is also a platform for professionals in the built environment locally and internationally to come together. As a result we welcome communication from the industry to let us know how we can improve and create a centre core portal focusing on ‘green’ building.”
